Wayne R. Eberius' Obituary
EBERIUS, Wayne R. 75, of Dunedin, FL, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2019. Born in Uniondale, NY on February 13, 1944 to Estelle and Joseph. Wayne was a lifelong servant of his community and his country. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving aboard the USS Cascade in the U.S. Navy as a signalman. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and became a law enforcement officer with the Nassau County Police Department in Long Island, NY, which he retired from after twenty years of honorable service. He then joined the University of South Florida Police Department, where he spent the latter half of his public service career. Wayne became a dedicated volunteer in his retirement years, working alongside the Suncoast Animal League and VIP Rescue Florida, assisting with our community’s four-legged friends. He also was a decorated volunteer for the Clearwater Police Department for a decade, earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Denise, his sister JoAnn, two sons and five daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many four-legged friends, including his beloved Bella, Rascal and Mia. With Navy honors, Wayne will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery on Friday, December 13th at 1:30 PM.
