William Andrew Hendrix's Obituary
William A. Hendrix, 91, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on the morning of Sunday, September 27th, 2020 at Suncoast Hospice Center in Palm Harbor, Florida. William (Grandpa Bill) was born on February 16th, 1929 to James Henry & Beulah G. (Hickman) Hendrix who have predeceased him. Bill worshipped in the Pentecostal faith with his late wife, Sylvia (Granny) who passed away on June 1st, 2020. Bill was a man who knew what he liked and he let you know it. He had no filter and always spoke what he thought and felt about anything. Grandpa Bill loved all the grandkids, always wanting to hold them and watch them play. He was also as stubborn as a mule and very resistant to change. He absolutely loved his guns, any and all television westerns, especially with John Wayne or Jimmy Stewart, but most of all he loved his pocket watch! Bill enjoyed sitting on the porch whistling to birds. He demanded bacon and eggs every morning and "it better be the good stuff, don't bring cheap bacon in this house". He also loved Taco Bell. His secrets to longevity.
Bill is survived by his son, James Henry Hendrix (Julie) of Paw Paw Michigan and grandchildren James Andrew, and Miriah. He is also survived by his step sons: Anthony Wayne Miller (Kathy) Martinsville, Indiana, Joseph Lee Miller (Anna) of Greencastle, Indiana, Terry Allen Miller (Connie) of Franklin, Indiana, and step daughters Angela Fern "Sissy" Spevak (Gerard) of Clearwater, Florida, Janet Kay James (Joseph) of Stanford, Indiana. He is also survived by step grandchildren Missy, Zachary, Vanessa, Amy, Jacqueline, Dennis, Emily, Terry, Allen, Steven, Daniel, Troy Jr., Rachel, Angela, and William. In total, Bill and Sylvia were survived by well over 60 grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. Bill also had a brother, James Virgil Hendrix of Oregon and fours sisters, Bertha Miller, Dorothy Colson, Mary Scobee, and Etheline Dannley. Bill has many beloved family/friends in Batesville, Arkansas where he and Sylvia married and lived together for over 8 years prior to moving to their Indiana home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for both Bill & Sylvia. It will take place at The Art Sanctuary (https://www.artsanctuaryindiana.com/), located at 190 N. Sycamore St. Martinsville, IN 46151 with Joseph James officiating.
