William Joseph Mulvaney's Obituary
W. Joseph Mulvaney, 97, died in Palm Harbor, FL, on April 21, 2019. He was the second son born to Mae and Christopher Mulvaney, now deceased, of Port Jervis, NY, where his early years were spend enjoying the pleasures of the Delaware River (referring to it as "his" river), skiing and camping in the nearby woods, as well as participating in many boyhood escapades. Joe was a Life Member of the Elks Organization. He was a distance swimmer and white water rafter. As a student of history, he was a keen observer of current day events.
A veteran of War II, Joe served aboard ship in the Pacific combat area. In the Okinawa campaign, his ship received a Combat Citation.
With his Family, Joe spent a job career in Saudi Arabia, retiring from the Arabian American Oil Co. in 1981 as an Operations Superintendent. He traveled extensively with his wife on seven continents to many primitive lands observing the customs and culture of their people.
His retirement years were lived in Dunedin and Palm Harbor, FL. With his fine sense of humor, he was respected in business and at meetings as an Intermediary and Arbiter. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lilyan, his brother, John and his wife.
He is survived by a niece, Mary, a nephew, Raymond, a special caregiver, Tiffaney Lake (aka his angel), and all living in Waldwick, NJ.
