William R. Smith
Bill passed away peacefully on January 18th,
2018 at the blessed age of 91. He always had a strong faith in Christ, demonstrated through mentorship of many young people. Born in New Haven, CT, he became a decorated veteran of the Navy serving in WWII during the initial invasions of the Marshall Islands, Saipan, and Enewetak. He outlived his siblings and retired after 30 years as a Engineer at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT. He also served two terms as Fire Chief in Woodbridge, CT, and two decades as a beloved school bus driver.
He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Lorraine, three daughters, Patti Chapin, Heather Smith, and Laurie Pierce, and three grandchildren. Mass, celebrating his life, will be held on Monday, January 22nd, at 10 am, at the Sacred Heart Church in Tampa.
