William H. Spates III's Obituary
William H. Spates 67, of Clearwater, FL passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL.
He was born on February 1, 1951 to the late William H. and Frances (Donnelly) Spates in New York City, New York, grew up in Wilmette, IL and settled in Clearwater, FL in 1981. He attended the University of Oklahoma and The International Institute for Bau-biologie & Ecology and held numerous indoor environmental professional certifications. Will was Founder and Principal of Indoor Environmental Technologies (IET) in Clearwater that was established in 1993. He was an impassioned leader, industry instructor and customer advocate. Prior to establishing IET, Will was a yacht captain for 15 years sailing the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and the Atlantic east coast.
Will was a passionate sailor and enjoyed his sailboat in Clearwater, his work on home construction projects, spending time with his wife Marie, son Wes and his extended family.
Will is survived by his devoted wife, Marie (Blume) Spates, his loving son, Wes (Jamie) Meyer of Southwest Ranches, FL, grandchildren Chase and Karlie, sister, Dottie (Jack) Brodhag of St. Simons Island, GA , and brother Nick Spates of Atlanta, GA.
The family invites you to join them on Friday, October 26 between 3 and 7 PM at Phillippe Park, 2525 Phillippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, FL 34695, Pavilion number 7 (waterfront).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 AM at Unity of Palm Harbor, 1960 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
