Dorothy and family,The service was wonderful for Bill, and the military salute was very touching. I wish I had been brave enought to stand and share memories of Bill at Church, but I do have many and I will share here. Bill always greeted us with happiness, kept us laughing and on a time table, who would not know the time, when it was "Pop a top" time. Bill always called our big dog "Lightning", his real name is Bandit, but Bill had a soft spot for Lightning. After the service, I kind of figured out why.....Bandit was a rescue dog adopted by my daughter Gwen, and "Lightning" had a less than ideal childhood, I think Bill knew that somehow and he identified with Bandit and bonded. Another amusing story that comes to mind about Bill. I started going to the dog park over 3 years ago, and my husband, Mike, would hear stories of all my friends there. Not long ago, he had the good fortune to meet Bill, he instantly liked him, and told me that when he "grew up", he wanted to be just like Bill. He was shocked to learn Bill's age, thinking he was at least 10 tears younger because of Bill's attitude and outlook on life. Again, I wish I had had the nerve to stand and talk at the service, I will cherish my memories of Bill, and look forward to many more good times at the dog park with Dorothy and Java, Bill's two favorite girls.
