William B. Wait's Obituary
William (Bill) Wait, a resident of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on January 21, 2018, at the age of 66.
Born November 11, 1951, in Coral Gables Miami, FL to John and Evelyn Wait. He is survived and missed by his wife Rugena, son Clinton of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and daughter Audra of Nashville, TN.
Bill took great pride in a 35-year tenure with Delta Airlines as an A&P Mechanic. He took full advantage of station transfers with Delta, moving his family from the West Coast to East Coast with a few stops in between, including Atlanta, GA, Fort Worth, TX, San Diego, CA, Norfolk, VA and Tampa, FL. Additionally, he took on the challenge of temporary international assignments with Delta in Europe, leading efforts in Nice, France, Budapest, Hungary, and Moscow, Russia.
Previously, Bill was a private pilot after serving in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. Before his military service, he earned a wrestling scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin and achieved Eagle Scout designation in his youth.
Bill had a passion for fishing, boating and shelling and volunteering at Honeymoon Island State Park. He was a skilled craftsman, working with wood, designing tables and other furniture pieces with a nautical touch. Additionally, he loved MG London roasters, owning '52 and '79 models.
He will be greatly missed by his brothers, John (Donna) Wait, TX and Chris (Jennifer) Evangelist, TN, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, as well as his many friends. He was predeceased by father, John Richard Wait, mother, Evelyn Mary Wait Evangelist, and step-father, Louis Evangelist.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Palm Harbor, FL in the coming months. Memorial donations may be made to Honeymoon Island State Park or American Veterans (AmVets).
