Al inspired me to be a better person and the love story between Al and Margie is one I will never forget. Never an unkind word came from his mouth.
I want to thank Al for the many years of service he gave us at Patrician Oaks as a Board Member. He was so logical and calm.
He was in the clubhouse gym at Patrician Oaks often and always popped into my office to share a joke, what a smile he had. I have met someone who truly lived his life with the spirit of Christ in his heart. I will miss him dearly!

I want to thank the family of our beloved Al, for you have been so gracious. I pray for healing and comfort for all as we learn to navigate through this life without Al in it.

In every memory I have of my grandpa, he has the brightest smile on his face, a kind glow, and a twinkle in his eye. I will miss his warmness, his kindness, and his stories.

The stories of his adventures always amazed me. He seemed to have seen all the corners of the world! I loved his anecdotes about travels to hostels all over Europe and beyond. He shared experiences about places I never before knew existed.

I listened as my grandpa talked about writing his life story, a passion of his. But the best life story is the one that is shared from generation to generation. It is the legacy that lives on and the way we treat each other. With the love and joy (and jokes) he shared, we have stories to last all our lifetimes. I will share his sense of adventure, commitment, love, and curiosity with my family, and they will share this with theirs.

I called him Daddy but I found out this week we have a much bigger family than I ever imagined. I have heard stories this week that have touched my heart and helped me laugh thru my tears. To all my relations in Florida from the Senior Center to Patrician Oaks and Our Lady of Lourdes... We are blessed in our cherished memories. He was the smartest man I will ever know; he never got angry or cursed; he never held a grudge; he never spoke ill of anyone; he persevered in all things intellectual; and he always smiled. If mom was happy, he was happy. It was a good life, Daddy. God bless and rest now; we'll take care of Mom.

There is the story of the Old Cherokee explaining to his grandson about the battle between two wolves within each of us....battling between evil and good and the wolf that wins is the one which was fed. We know which wolf Al fed during his life by his display of peace, love, serenity, humility, kindness, generosity, compassion, and faith. He is missed.

If there was one lesson I learned from Grandpa it was "don't sweat the small stuff". He was always lighthearted, adventurous, silly and smart. He was an amazing caregiver to my Grandmother, always carrying a gentle smile as he helped her through the day.

I am blessed that he was able to meet his Grandsons. They still remember sitting on our back porch sipping lemonade with him. Rory at age four would always ask when do we get to see Great Grandpa from Florida again?

The world would be a better place if there were more people like my Grandfather. His dedication to his wife, excitement to learn, thrill for traveling and adventure as well as his crazy humor kept us all intrigued.

Grandpa, thank you for giving me my mother. Thank you for impacting our world by teaching us to relax just a bit more. Thank you for the memories and please watch over us.

Aunt Diane, Mama, Aunt Trisha, and Uncle Dave,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was amazing. I was honored to quietly get to know more about his life on Monday without interruption of a silly joke or passive wave of the hand. He was so much more than what I thought I knew. I know he is resting in peace and his life was fulfilled as intended. His giving, unselfish time was never wasted on anger, regret, or any type of material nonsense. I am really going to try to live more like him. I am thankful he was my grandpa for a very long time! I am praying for you all and hoping you never feel alone in your grief. I am here if you need me (or there).
