Sonia Rodriguez
Although my "family" was not even mentioned in who loved and cared for you, I would like to say here how much we all loved you Mima. I met you in 1999 and my life was forever changed because of your love and devotion to my family. You immediately made me part of your family and while other daughters loved you on their terms, I loved you whole heartedly, without limitations, without interest in what you could have provided for me. When it truly mattered, I was there for you, I stood at your bedside to watch you take your last breath, while others could not get away from their "vacations" or commitments. It saddens me to know how you sacrificed your entire life for not only your own children, but for many children that were not even your own. When the time came that you needed them, to care for you, to help you, there were few who rose to the occasion and some who complained that they had to take care of you. You were truly a mother to myself and a grandmother to my kids, Ana and Tony. Your great grandson Kayden loved you with all his heart as well. I will never, ever forget you Mima, I think of you daily, and you visit me daily, as I feel your spirit always guiding me. Although some may want for me to stay quiet and not speak my truth, and pretend that your last years were wonderful, you and I spoke on many occasions about what was really going on and I feel as if I perhaps did not do enough to help you with your troubles. I could not manipulate you, as others did, but in the end, Karma will take care of those who did. I know you have a very special place in heaven and when my time comes, you will be there to receive me. I love you today and forever. Your daughter, Sonia Rodriguez aka La Java.
