Arthur Charles Jewett's Obituary
Dad passed into eternity to be with his much-loved Annie in the early morning on Saturday, February 18th. He spent 54 years with her in the Sacrament of Marriage and the last decade without her. Life was never quite right for him during the last ten years, although he loved his family immensely. Dad was a character, and he would always give the advice to “never get old” to everyone he met. You knew you were good when you got that double thumbs up from him. He suffered in body and mind especially during the last few years when, seemingly, one suffering after another occurred including Hurricane Irma taking the retirement house he and Mom built together.
Now that we all know the other date at the end of “The Dash”, we are left to carry on the family-stick -togetherness. Mom and Dad were always there for all of us through the many trials of life. Dad had a dream once that Mom came on a cruise ship, but told him he couldn’t get on the boat yet because it wasn’t his time. That ship of Faith finally came, although with Dad he’ll probably negotiate with St. Peter to be able to be on the crew that gets to help clean and fix things.
He passed at Good Shepherd Hospice with a little Divine Mercy holy card of Jesus over his head. He had a simple faith, and so it is apt that the Divine Mercy message is simply Jesus, I Trust In You. He said he wanted to be with Annie so he could better help us, and now he is before the Beatific Vision in prayer for us all, and no longer weighed down by the shuffle or that much loathed catheter bag.
So, his children will continue the legacy of being there for family and others from Mom and Dad. Annie and “Butch” have 2 children (Robin and Todd/wife Dawn) , eight grandchildren: Father Jonathan, Kurtis/wife Kayla, Kateri/husband Eric, Lars/wife Anne, and Luke from Robin’s family, and Kassie/husband Kerrick, Ryan/wife Caitlin, and Dalton from Todd’s family. He additionally has eight great-grandchildren and counting! Dad also leaves behind his sister, Pat, who resides in New Hampshire.
He was met at the gates of heaven by his son-in-law, Bobby, his Mom and Dad, Lillian and Harry, and his much missed wife, Ann.
Dad would always want to check repeatedly that everyone was okay and happy. He would call nightly and tell us to have a peaceful and goodnight’s sleep. Now it is time for us to tell you to have peace and rest, Dad. -Until we are all united again.
