Barbara A "Barb C" Christian's Obituary
November 7, 1942 - May 11, 2026
Barb Christian came to St. Alfred's in 1986, and for the next four decades was an actively involved parishioner and volunteer in the ministry of our beloved parish.
Born in Thompsonville Connecticut and raised in New Hampshire. Barb joined the United States Air Force as a young woman, serving in the Nurse Corps, including a period based in England, and rose to the rank of captain before leaving military service. Barb was an Operating Room Nurse, serving at Mease Dunedin Hospital and The Surgery Center in New Port Richey, retiring as head of the Surgical Supplies Department.
Barb began volunteering at St Alfreds almost since her arrival at St. Alfred’s. Barb C., as she is affectionately known, served as Coordinator of Office Volunteers, Head Usher, Reader, Counter and more. She was a steady presence at St. Alfred's serving as our unofficial church historian.
Barb leaves behind her sister, Roberta Combes, a niece and nephew and nine great nieces and nephews, especially Cooper, who was the apple of her eye, as well as a heart-broken parish family who will miss her greatly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 am at St. Alfred’s Episcopal Church, 1601 Curlew Rd, Palm Harbor with internment in the Garth.
A reception will follow in Reister Hall. Memorials for Barb may be made to St. Alfred’s Episcopal Church. Please annotate Barb C Memorial in the memo line
