I was so saddened to hear of Betty's passing. She was such a special lady and had a way of making you smile even if you weren't feeling good. I know she will be missed very much by all of her loving family and friends. I would like to share this poem with all of you: GOD saw you were getting tired when a cure was not to be. He closed his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me". In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, Our Hearts were almost broken you fought so hard to stay. I was saddened to read of Betty's passing. She and Bob were at my Mother's (Ruth Love) funeral last June.

What an awesome couple they were! Growing up I hung out in My Mother's beauty shop and Betty was a customer and thought she was the prettiest lady I had ever seen! She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet smile and beautiful dimples. Rest peacefully Betty.
My mom was the sweetest and kindest person that I have ever known. I would like to thank God that He gave her to me. I am so happy that she was the one that I was to learn from in life. Always happy, full of life, positive and kind. I will miss our talks on the phone and so much more- guess we will talk a little differently now. I know you are in a much better place and surrounded by ones that love you. You came into this world as little Betty Jean Barnes, but you left it so much bigger...Betty Barnes McDermott, Mom, Aunt B, Grandma and last, but not least Mema.

All of my memories of Betty include a sweet smile and kind words. She was so proud of her family and adored her grand kids. Surely, they all have good memories to help them cope with this loss. She will be missed by all of the staff in my office; we always enjoyed her and Bob's visits.

My Mema, Betty Barnes McDermott was not only loved by everyone, but my hero, my best friend and definitely someone who I could always turn to to make me smile no matter what. She never put herself first and you never saw her without a smile. She was accepting of everyone welcomed anyone. She has impacted my life in many ways and I cant see the rest of my life without her. Thank You Mema for the sixteen amazing years I had with you. I know you're in a better place now and I will make sure as you're looking down on me, you see a man you can say you're proud of. I love you so much words cant explain.

My memories of Betty are memories I will carry close to my heart for the rest of my life. She was the very essence of style and grace. There was a softness to her approach to life. Kindness for Betty wasn't about putting on a face she was graceful to the core. I was always so amazed at the effect she would have on complete strangers. Always saying hello or giving a compliment or even a hug. She brightened any room she was in and always made you feel like you were special. I will miss my mother in law, my friend. She was as close to perfect as any human being can be. I am so grateful that she was such a big part of my life. Thank you Betty for always showing me the way.
