Betty Barnes McDermott's Obituary
McDermott, Betty Barnes, 89 passed away on March 7, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Clearwater and the daughter of the late J.W. and Laura Barnes. She is survived by her Loving husband of 60 years in August, Robert J. McDermott, Sons, Robert J. Jr., John W., of Clearwater, James T. and Shannon of Raleigh, N.C. and daughter Laurie J. and Joseph Alexander of Kennesaw, Ga. Eight Grandchildren; James P., Joshua, Fiona, Finnegan, and Keegan McDermott, Jake, Sarah, and Ryan Alexander.
Betty was a graduate of Clearwater High school in the Class of 1945, she was active in the community all her life. Former President of Skipperttes Club, former Treasure of Pioneers of Pinellas County, member of the Democrat Woman’s Club, The Historical Society of Pinellas, The JR League of Clearwater and Dunedin, Endowed member of Morton Plant Hospital Foundation, Benefactor Member of Pinellas Community Foundation. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
A visitation will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:00 am with a Memorial service at 10 am with a Reception to follow at the church.
