Oh Mickey, where do I begin? Mickey was my Aunt and my earliest memories are spending my summer vacations with Mickey. I mean it was about 2-3 weeks every summer until I hit my mid-teens. I haven’t figured out if it was because Mickey liked me or my Mom did not. 🤣🤣. Tammy and I used to have fun irritating her and the more we got in trouble, the more we would laugh until Mickey would start laughing and just say “Oh you two are so bad”. One of my favorite memories was when I got married at Mickey’s house. Well, actually it was the night before when Mickey decided we should go out. Oh my gosh, somehow Mickey convinced the piano player (I remember his name was Lido 🤣😂😂) to come to her house the next day and play the piano for my tiny little wedding. That was so funny and so awkward at the same time. There was about 10 people at the wedding including the Bride and Groom so you can just imagine.
My Aunt Mickey and my Mom Doris talked on the phone every single day and I could hear Mickey laughing through the phone. Those two were always sending each other something, a book, a kindle or just some little thing. I know it made the two of them happy.
Now having saved one of my funniest memories for last. The whole kit and kaboodle of us went to Disney World. I mean just about everyone in our family was there. Mickey, Tammy, Tegwyn, Travis, Doris, Hank, Steve J., myself, Lindsay, Darby, Shorty, Don, Brooke and Roger. My mom was in a wheel chair at the time and we all gathered on this bridge to watch a fireworks show. Mom made sure to get her spot up front early so she could see. Out of nowhere a lady appeared in front of my Mom. Oh my gosh, my Mom started backing up and going forward to hit the woman with her wheelchair. Just when I thought I had her under control, my dear Aunt Mickey would egg her on and then walk away howling with laughter. Anyone who knew Mickey, knew her laugh. She was something else. I regret not talking to her more often these past few years, there was something about Mickey that made you want to tell her funny stories, I think it’s because it was so easy to entertain her. She made you feel like a stand up comic. 😂
You will be missed Mickey. ❤️
