I just learned of my Uncle Chuck's passing, and on behalf of my Mom, Therese Ryan (Chuck's sister-in-law) and my entire family, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the Steer family on the loss of Uncle Chuck. We had communicated by e-mail over the last few years, and I knew of the battles he was fighting with cancer, and the struggles he encountered while writing his book. He was truly a remarkable man, and my childhood memories of him are many and pleasant. May God rest his soul, and may He comfort the Steer family in your sorrow at losing your loved one................Vince Ryan, Schwenksville,Pa.
My deepest sympathies are extended to the family. Soon, death will be eliminated. 1 Cor 15:26.
To the family of Mr. Steer: I was one of his French students from Villa Joseph Marie from 1985 to 1989. I remember EVERYTHING he taught me! Because of him, I majored in French in college and began my own teaching career as a French teacher at VJM. I didn't appreciate his words of wisdom then, but I do now. He taught me how to be firm but fair with my own students as well as my own children. I always admired his faith and I take comfort that he is no longer suffering.

Chuck was already well advanced in his battle with cancer by the time we actually met. I will always be grateful for his positive and excited outlook about his pending transition to be with the Lord. He made visiting him fun and exciting and you always felt better leaving than you had when you arrived. Thank you Chuck, and thank you for sharing your wonderful book "I am the Captain of my Soul" Eva
