Dominick Palumbo's Obituary
The world is a little less funny with the passing of Dominick Palumbo, beloved husband of Ann for 45 years, father of Raina (Sullivan) and TJ Palumbo, father-in law to Veronica Lewis-Palumbo and Jay Sullivan and grandfather (Baba) to Emily, Alex, Tyler and Brodie and great grandson, Nicholas.
Dom had a sense of humor that knew no bounds and he could always be counted on to say something inappropriate when there was an opportunity. He loved baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians, he appreciated good food, especially anything that was cooked at home.
He started out in the carpet business in Ohio and upon moving to Florida, he changed careers and entered the seafood industry. He enjoyed anything fish related, catching, eating, and talking about all things fish. In fact, so much so that he even did some on air sales at Shop NBC selling a variety of seafood products.
He loved to travel and shared a special fondness for Paris with Ann. He was notably pulled over by the Sheriff of Nottingham during a visit to England for an illegal turn in a roundabout and talked his way out of a citation. He had too many friends and extended family to count as everyone who knew Dom, loved him.
But above all he adored his family. It would be difficult to find anyone who was more in love with his wife than Dom, and they both agreed the other was the love of their life. His kids and grandkids gave him great joy and gave special meaning to his life when illness set in.
In spite of his physical deficiencies growing, he never gave up and had such tenacity and determination even his doctors and caregivers found him remarkable. Because of this they all went "that extra mile" to help give him the best quality of life for as long as possible. His family will be forever grateful to them all.
One of his final wishes was to return home to a gazebo in the back yard he enjoyed. Although he won't be able to relax in its shade, he will always be present in spirit in what will be named "Dom's Gazebo" at the home painted in "Bright Laughter."
As per Dom's request he did not want a memorial service, instead he and his family ask that you make donations to one of the charity's below.
