Elaine Marie Mattingly's Obituary
Elaine Marie (Stuart) Mattingly, 75, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away September 17, 2014, at her residence, under the care of her husband, Ron and son-in-law, Greg. Born in Peru, Illinois, she and her husband moved to Florida in 1975 after the completion of Ron’s military career. A Homemaker, Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ron Mattingly, 2 children, Sonya Thatch and her husband, John of Clearwater; Catherine Heise and her husband, Greg of Ocala, FL.; two grandchildren, Eric Thatch attending UCF in Orlando, FL. and Nicole Thatch attending FAU in Boca Raton, FL.; two sisters, Gwendolyn Zimmerman of Ottawa, IL. and Daphyne Holdcraft of Rockfield, KY.; brother, George Stuart of Morgantown, KY. Elaine was predeceased by her mother and father, Amy and George Stuart of Morgantown, Kentucky.
Elaine was a loving and compassionate woman who touched everyone she met with her kindness. She was a mother who always guided and taught her children to be the best at whatever they did in life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She was passionate about sewing clothes for her daughters and herself. She made her own formal wear when she and Ron attended the Marine Corp Balls.
Elaine accompanied Ron during his military career to many Duty stations including Germany and Hawaii, also many US locations.
She enjoyed the hobby of cake decorating. Elaine created beautiful cakes for her family and friends for special occasions which included weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and various holidays. She also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with neighbors and friends. Elaine was known for her “World famous” Pecan pies which she baked during the holidays for her family, friends and neighbors.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 16th at 10:00 am at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin. Interment will follow at 2:15 pm at Bay Pines Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Suncoast Hospice.
