Fotini Ruiz passed away on July 15th, 2025, in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Fotini was born in Athens, Greece, to her parents Eugene and Konstandina Filiopoulos, the second of two children. There, she attended high school in Athens. Read Obituary
I grew up across the street on Old Dominion Ave in Herndon, Virginia in the late 80s and 90s and was friends with Russ and Tina. I’ll always remember Mrs. Ruiz (Fay) as a very loving mother and wonderful neighbor. She often shared Greek pastries with me, and she had a playful way of keeping us kids in line — always telling me in her accent, “I’m going to beet-sa your butt if you don’t behave!” That memory still makes me smile. My deepest condolences to the Ruiz family.

I did not know Fontini here at Holy Trinity but watching her receive Holy Communion filled my heart with joy as her light and love of Christ was shining. She greeted everyone with a hug and a smile!

We were saddened to witness the last few years of Fotini’s life as we understood that she could not totally comprehend how her life was changing. Our favorite memories were seeing how happy and friendly she was when Ed brought her to church. We wish we’d had the opportunity to know her prior to her illness. She was obviously a beautiful and intelligent woman and a terrific wife and mom.
