Old Clearwater has definitely lost one of its finest. Geoffrey was a treasure. I got to know her as my sister in law's (Beverly's) best friend. The two of them were the nicest, sweetest and funniest girls I had ever met. I understood why they were BFFs. Geoffrey always had a welcoming radiant smile that will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Sincere condolences.

In our sophomore year in high school, study hall was in the auditorium with Russell Cantwell, a rather caustic teacher, in charge. When he called the roll and got to Geoffrey Lee, she answered and he told her she couldn't be Geoffrey Lee because Geoffrey was a man's name and he sent her to the office. If that had been one of us who were self-conscious and lacked confidence, we would have fled the auditorium in tears. Geoff took it in stride and calmly walked out and came back with proof of her identity. I was in awe of Geoff that day.
