Geoffrey L. Coit's Obituary
Helen Geoffrey Lee Coit passed away in the morning on November 5th, 2022. Named for her grandfather and affectionately known as Geoffo to her friends and Gran to her grandchildren, her family and friends loved her greatly. She was one of the founding teachers at St. Paul's School, and was regularly recognized by former students around Clearwater (and the nation) after her 30 year tenure. Daughter of Helen McMullen Lee and C. Raymond Lee, Geoffrey was a 4th-generation Pinellas native. She was a member of the Hillcrest Garden Club, Questers, and Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, and attended the Church of the Ascension for many years. Saw tortoises in the Galapagos Islands, witnessed the Green Flash over the Gulf of Mexico, visited the spires of Moscow, saw the Big 5 in Africa, and made time each year to watch the leaves change in New Hampshire. She was generous and caring, supporting many different charities. She is survived by her partner Bob Ress, her brother Ray Lee (Martha), daughter Whitney Coit Gray (Kurt), son Chuck Coit (Kim), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Hatch. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18, at 1:00 pm at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, reception to follow in Roebling Hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her honor. To honor her love of bright colors and sparkles, please feel free to dress joyfully.
