I was a college roommate with George and Chris Moffitt of Lima, Ohio for 6 months in early, 1977 at Ohio State. George's friendship, warmth and personality will never be forgotten by me. He wore his big heart on his sleeve for all of his family and friends.
We shared so many good times and also one of the saddest. George and I were basketball teammates representing the dorm when George received notice of his Dad's passing in the middle of the game. About a week later when George returned to school, I never saw anyone so devastated and sad. This was something I could not fully understand until my Dad passed away 14 years later. At the conclusion of our freshman year in June, 1977, I left Ohio State after receiving a tennis scholarship to a Florida school. I continued with tennis to this day as a player, coach, teaching pro and professional tennis umpire. I was glad to read how much enjoyment and business success George had from golf. Although, I didn't see George after OSU, I am still appreciative of having known him and would often think back to all of the good times we had. He was truly a one of a kind and special person who made all of us better people.
I cannot tell George's family how sorry I am for their loss. Each of you should be so proud
of George and take him in your heart wherever you go.
