GEORGE T. BAKER
May 9, 1958 – January 13, 2016
George T. Baker, Sr, Palm Harbor, Florida died peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Florida.
Born on Friday, May 9, 1958 in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV to Harold C. Baker, Jr (deceased) and Virginia A. Baker (Gonot) formerly of Bridgeport, Ohio now residing in Clearwater, Florida. George was a General Contractor and a resident of Palm Harbor, Florida for the past 22 years. He was an avid golfer, he enjoyed relaxing on the beach, and carried on his family’s tradition of sharing their time honored recipes including a few of his own with friends and family.
He was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Dunedin, Florida. George, as an amateur golfer, competing in numerous golf outings and competitions. He was an active member of ING (International Golf Network) Association. He competed in the 2011 World International Finals representing the United States in this International Competition in Scotland placing second along with his partner. In addition, George was a staunch Pittsburgh Steelers fan, watching every game, attending several home and away games each year and was friends with several of the former Steeler players that he met through his golfing passion.
He married Connie (Romeo) Baker on June 24, 1989 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Seminole, Florida. George is survived by his wife of 26 years Connie, son George T. Baker, Jr, daughter Joanne M. Baker, mother Virginia A. Baker, brother Sam Baker of Worthington, Ohio, sister Rosemarie Barritt of Ovedio, Florida, and sister Karen Vince of Safety Harbor, Florida. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin, Florida. A memorial mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 2281 State Road 580, Clearwater, FL 33763 on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 10:00 am.
