Gretchen and I met while singing in the choir and our friendship grew with our enjoyment of playing handbells. Gretchen freely gave of her time and talents to share her enthusiasm for music with others. She directed the youth handbell choir, created an ensemble of high school youth, The Joyful Noise, and encouraged the two of us to play a bell duet. She was truly an amazing person.
After retirement, we were blessed to continue our friendship in a book club. It was a special evening when she lead the discussion of her memoir about growing up in a small Minnesota town.
Gretchen was a dear friend for decades. I will always cherish the many adventures we had over the years. I appreciate her enjoyment of life, creativity, love of nature, and kind spirit. Thanks for the memories, Gretchen.
My sincerest sympathy to Arthur, Jane, Brian and all of Gretchen's family.
