The English, Mcneal And Howard Families
I just learned Mr. McCormick died. He was my 8th grade teacher back in 1985/1986 and he remained my favorite teacher throughout school. I have so many fond memories of him, and am grateful for the impact he had on my life.
He was a dedicated educator who always encouraged me to be my best. Here are just a few things I thought of today - some of which happened before 8th grade:
1) He started an after-school Krypto Club, and was there to cheer me on when I represented our school during the city-wide competition.
2) He took students to baseball games, and for many of us it was our first in person game.
3) He helped me to get into a summer program at Community College of Philadelphia, the summer after 8th grade. That program was pivotal because it helped me to discover I wanted a career in technology.
My condolences to Mr. McCormick's family. Thank you for sharing him with his many students.
