James Henry McCormick III's Obituary
James (Jim) H. McCormick III, of Largo, FL, formerly of Wenonah, NJ, has passed away, at age 77, after a long courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA-P), a rare neurological disease.
Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 7, 1947. He was a 1965 graduate of St. John Neumann High School, 1969 graduate of LaSalle University with a B.S. in Business Marketing, graduate of Temple University for both M/MEQ+60 and M.S. in Computer Science.
He began teaching in the Philadelphia School District in 1970, mainly at William S. Peirce School. He retired in 2006 after 36 years of dedication to his students.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of almost 51 years, Rosalie (Borawski) McCormick; children Danielle (Justin) Oliver, James H. McCormick IV, Lauren (Micah) Anderson, and Krista (Josh) Sand; grandchildren, Keira, Liam, Lily, and Willow; brother, Kenneth (Robin) McCormick; sisters, Geraldine Roscoe, Josephine (James) O’Brien, Julie O’Connor; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents James H and Bernice McCormick, Jr; brother-in-laws, Albert Roscoe, Leonard O’Connor, Stanley Borawski, Raymond Borawski, and Anthony Mattern; sister-in-law Marie Mattern.
Jim enjoyed playing basketball, golf, pinochle and singing with his Barbershop Quartet. He volunteered many years coaching soccer and softball at his school as well as his own children’s sports through the Wenonah Athletic Association. He took pride in his restoration of his 100 year old Victorian home in Wenonah. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with family and friends. He was always quick with a joke and would light up any room with his endearing smile.
