My Aunt Sissy was a true, one of a kind powerhouse of the self. She knew who she was and never sacrificed her opinions. I’m so proud to share blood with a woman who was never afraid to use her voice.

Sis let me tattoo her, paint art on her house, horribly attempt way too advanced pottery, and always supported me in any endeavor — even celebrated when I started beating her in Scrabble (which is really a credit and heritage victory to all Gulacys before me.) Even as a little kid, she’d spend hours on the phone with me just shooting the shit. She intensely impacted my life, and I’m grateful for and to her.

Sis, I will always carry your aura in my soul, and without fail, my kitchen will always be filled with your beautiful pottery. Morning coffee has been and will always be spent with you in my mind. I will forever miss your presence, unique voice, beautiful hands, and wild spontaneity, ya crazy contrary queen. Your scrubs will live on in my studio. I love you!
