Jeanne Gulacy Peters' Obituary
Jeanne Gulacy Peters, known as Sis or Sissy, was born on February 10, 1949 in Warren, Ohio as the eldest daughter of Stephen Gulacy and Florence Balik Gulacy. Jeanne moved on to her deserved stage of peace on September 18th, 2025 in Dunedin, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones.
Jeanne lived in Youngstown and Masury, Ohio, and worked at General Motors Packard Electric in Warren. She moved to Florida in 2013 with her cats and creative craft. An accomplished artisan and respected potter, she produced an extensive collection of outstanding work for over forty years. She took pride in her additional profession as a phlebotomist, her masterful pottery business “Smiling Cat Pottery,” and her culinary expertise in her nostalgic Hungarian cuisine.
Sissy will always be remembered as a strong woman who undeniably paved her own path and never strayed from her unforgettable originality, activist voice, and personal style. Sis was the epitome of a commanding, opinionated feminist with a savvy sense of humor and exquisite intelligence in politics, linguistics and life experience. Sissy will be deeply missed for her sharp mind, quick satirical wit, and natural ability to make an entire room buckle over with laughter. The assertive Aquarius called herself contrary, yet at her core, Sissy was a pioneer of unpretentious confidence with an innate kindness for the underdogs. Without hesitation, she rescued and adopted her cherished animals, providing beautiful lives for her adored cat, Murphy
Brown, late pets, Queenie, Max, Sophie, Scooter, Samantha, Buffy, Baby and so many other feline companions who have all welcomed her reunion home now.
Jeanne is predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Florence Gulacy, and brothers, Thomas Gulacy and William Gulacy. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Ann Gulacy Ritter and Joanne Ann Collins, her brother-in-law, Timothy James Ritter, her former husband, Thomas Peters, her nieces, Storm Gulacy Ritter, Cristina Gulacy-Worrel and Alexandra Gulacy Thornton, sister-and-law Lilliam Gulacy, and her beloved cat, Murphy Brown, who safely remains with family.
