Joan Marie Mullen's Obituary
Mullen, Joan Marie, 56, died on the morning of April 25, 2020. She battled an aggressive brain tumor (Glioblastoma Multiforme) for 18 months. Born in Chester Pennsylvania, Joan is the youngest daughter of United States Coast Guardsman CDR. James Michael Mullen and Marie Canavan Mullen, both from Chester, PA. She graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer High School in 1981 and Beth Israel School of Nursing in 1983, both in New York City.
The Mullen Family settled in Palm Harbor, Florida in 1984. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital of New Port Richey and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa for years.
She was welcomed in Heaven by our Lord, her father, her uncles James Canavan and Richard Desmond, her aunts Marie and Helen Desmond, her Grandparents Sylvester and Catherine Canavan, Francis Mullen and Daniel and Anne (Bonner Mullen) Strain.
Left here on earth to remember are her mother Marie, her older sister Patricia, her Uncle Paul Desmond and Aunts Suzanne Canavan and Patricia Strain, along with her Canavan, Mullen and Desmond Family cousins, her God-Daughter Raewyn Rennie and many friends who loved her dearly.
Joan will have a burial at sea off of Cape May, NJ at the same coordinates that her father was laid to rest. There will be a memorial service here in the Tampa Bay Florida Area when we can all get together to celebrate her life and comfort each other. Please email [email protected] if you would like notification of this celebration.
Please remember her by praying for a cure for this horrible cancer and throwing a shell into the sea.
