John C Wacker's Obituary
Wacker, John Charles 80, of Clearwater, passed away April 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. John was born in Great Falls, Montana. He held both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in physics from Washington State University. After graduation, John was recruited by Honeywell and moved to Minneapolis, MN where he met his wife Kathleen. In 1971 the family moved to Florida where his projects within Honeywell’s avionics division included development of steering and navigation systems for the F117-A stealth fighter. Since his retirement in 1999, John worked for H&R Block during tax season, volunteered at his beloved church, Grace Lutheran of Clearwater, played the French horn and was the treasurer of the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra and also played the French horn and tuba in the Clearwater Community Band.
John is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his daughter, Karen (Wacker) Hampton and son-in-law, Henry Hampton, his son, Chris Wacker and daughter-in-law, Suzanne, grandsons, Sean and Colin, his son, Andrew Wacker and daughter-in law, Wendy, grandsons, Aaron and Alex. John is also survived by his sister, Elaine (Wacker) Broyles and brother-in-law, Dick Broyles.
John will be missed by all that knew him. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 N. Highland Ave, Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial donation to Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 N. Highland Ave., Clearwater FL 33755.
