My husband Paul and I were on holiday in Italy from England in 2007. One warm evening in Rome we were trying to cross a busy road in search of the Trevi Fountain when we got talking to Lorraine who was trying to find her way back to her hotel.
We wandered the streets together for a while and chatted about all the beautiful sites we had seen. She told me she was doing the trip for her Mum who was Italian but no longer well enough to make the journey.
When we neared Lorraine's hotel we exchanged email addresses and have kept in touch from time to time mostly by photos on Facebook of our growing families.
So sad to here of her passing especially as we are in her beloved Italy in Abruzzo, where her mum came from, just now.
Rest in Peace lovely lady.
