Margaret G Tolosa's Obituary
MARGARET GRACE TOLOSA, of Largo, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday September 4, 2019 after an extended illness. Miss Margaret and or Aunt Margaret, as she was affectionately known, was born on January 21, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Rev. Ramon and Lula Tolosa. Margaret was preceded in death by a younger sister, Alice, in 1936 and an older sister, Lula Mary, in 2006. She is survived by an older brother, Raymond Tolosa, of Clearwater, Florida, a younger sister, Esther Ramirez, of St. Petersburg, Florida, her caretakers nephew Clifford and Brenda Tolosa of Largo, Florida and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and great great nephews and nieces.
Margaret grew up in Saginaw, Michigan where she graduated from Saginaw High School in 1946. She received a BA degree from Central Michigan University in 1950. In 1952 she attended the Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica after which she departed for Venezuela, as a Baptist Mid-Missions missionary, and established Colegio Emmanuel, a primary/elementary private Christian school for families with little financial means. That school is continuing to operate to this very day with many children continuing to receive a solid Christian education along with their regular academic subjects.
In 1955, Margaret returned to the United States and established another private Christian day school (Timothy Academy) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to help serve the Hispanic community with high academic standards and a goal of teaching English as a Second Language at an extremely affordable cost to families of low incomes. Timothy Academy is a ministry of the Iglesia Evangelica Bautista where Margaret was a member for almost 50 years before retiring and moving to Maranatha Village of Sebring, Florida in 2004. She also served as a volunteer for the Editorial Bautista Independiente (EBI) where she read and edited all materials being printed from English into Spanish while living in Sebring until moving to Largo in 2017.
A huge God bless and thank you to the Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas County for the superb service they provided to the family during this final chapter of Margaret's earthly journey.
