I miss you, Grams! You silly, wild woman!
Grandma Marjean was a huge part of my life. She always will be. I was lucky enough to grow up close enough to her for plenty of long weekend visits, summer break vacations as a kid and the occasional day trip as an adult. She even briefly lived with us while I was in high school. Grandma had the biggest heart and a great sense of humor. I think it's safe to say she was basically everyone's favorite grandmother, even to friends of mine who had their own grandmothers to consider. She was just so warm and so hilarious...an absolute charmer. I miss her witty and outlandish remarks, her silly wet kisses when I was a kid and our serious conversations more recently before she passed. I miss girls days when grandma, mom and I would sneak beer into the movie theatre and go shopping after. I miss Christmas time when we'd open presents before midnight mass and drive around to look at Christmas lights. I miss our dinner dates with delicious cocktails and honest, judgement free conversations. I just miss knowing she is close by. Spending any amount of time with grandma somehow made your heart feel more full, even the times where she would infuriate you. She was a giver. She gave all of us grandkids so much love, laughter and fun memories. She spoiled us and taught us that sometimes it's okay to break the rules. She emphasized that family is of the utmost importance. I'm extremely grateful to have had such a strong, loving grandma. I regret not being a better granddaughter. You deserved more sunshine, flowers, chocolate & cheese, large family gatherings, fun accessories and more of my time. I'll always carry you in my heart, Grandma Marjean. I love you.
Sharing loving thoughts and words from Mom’s niece and my cousin Chis Judge Lackerman.
A belated gift for you, Mom.
I picked this up for Mom on my way home from my last trip to visit her. And I never had a chance to give it to her.

A few favorite family photos from the archive that bring back memories of Mom in Iowa, Detroit and Florida.
Marjean produced a great bunch of children. It's a testament to her that they all turned out to be the sweetest, kindest, and most interesting kids in the Herrity clan. That's no surprise, because Marjean herself was sweet, kind, and interesting.
Here are some photos of Marjean that I found here among Mom's boxes of memorabilia. Some of these you've probably seen, and others I'll bet not. It's hard to tell from the preview how this upload will turn out, but here goes.
One of my favorite Memories of Marjean was when my husband Steven was in the hospital in Philadelphia having his 2nd Open heart surgery to correct his Coarctation of the Aorta in 2002/03. Both of my in laws were there as was my husbands stepmom and any siblings who could come. Everyone was so caring and supportive. But to distract me from worrying Marjean took me outside to "people watch" as she called it. We sat and ate hot dogs and sodas from a street vendor and laughed and commented on what people were wearing where they were going and what they were possibly doing that day. She was always so upbeat and funny. Always looking for the silver lining and the best in people. The eternal optimist, I called her. She took my mind off worries about my husband in surgery for a little while. For that and her loving nature I will always be grateful. That and for teaching my husband to have a loving heart and a qwerky sense of humor. He is her child for sure and I am forever grateful to have known her and loved her and her crazy loving family.
My Grandma Marjean is one of those brilliant souls whose light shines brightly upon all the lives she’s touched. Always with a great sense of humor or a joke to spare and lighten the mood on any occasion... she knew how to fill a room with laughter. She was the best grandmother anyone could ask for because she was so fun, loving and supportive. I will cherish her memory for the rest of my life and I will carry her legacy into the future with pride and honor. May she Rest In Peace and May she dwell in the presence of infinite love. I love you grandma.
