Mary M Mione's Obituary
Mione, Mary M. (Peggy), 91, died peacefully at home in Clearwater, FL on Easter morning, April 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 24, 1926, in Central City, Kentucky, she was the consummate southern belle. She caught the eye of a handsome West Point graduate and pilot John Mione and their magical courtship lasted 59 years.
To her friends and family she was Peggy, Mom, Momma and “Gran.” She loved the arts, and spent 12 years working at the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center in Belleair after moving to Florida in 1978. Peggy and John were “Fred and Ginger” on the dance floor, and she had a penchant for stepping forward to give the occasional vocal performance at special events and even Karaoke. She volunteered much of her time to support friends and neighbors at Regency Oaks in Clearwater, where she enjoyed her last 12 years. Peggy was admired for her beautiful, hand-made greeting and comfort cards for family, new residents and those in the assisted-living and nursing facilities.
Peggy devoted her life to her family, and she will be deeply missed. She prepared her children for the many challenges ahead, and was always available with a sympathetic ear and a “three-squeeze” hug. She’s never to be forgotten, especially her “Gran-talk” . . . “Hidee” and “Love you mighty much.”
She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Grace, Jean Marie (Angelo), Ann Elizabeth (Jimmy) and one son John Kelly (Pam – wife and “other-daughter”), 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, nieces Janet Hummell, Judy Venable Williams and Beth Venable Andermann, and nephew David Venable.
There will be a visitation with family at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin Chapel, 1320 Main Street on Wednesday, April 4, from 3-5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to Suncoast Hospice. She will be laid to rest alongside the love of her life at the U.S. Air Force Academy cemetery near Colorado Springs.
