Mary Alice Schutt's Obituary
Mary Alice (Kelly) Schutt, 87, of Clearwater, Florida, passed on November 13, 2018. Mary, known to friends as Polly, was born November 21, 1930, in Montgomery, Alabama to Delmar and Annie Kelly. She graduated Leyden Community High School in Franklin Park, Illinois in 1949. In later years, she would become the Leyden Class of 1949 secretary and would work tirelessly to keep her beloved high school classmates in touch with one another. Mary continued her education in Chicago, Illinois attending secretarial, court stenography and short hand school and was employed following high school by The Joslyn Manufacturing Company. In 1952, Mary married her high school sweet-heart, Robert Mathews Schutt. Mary and Robert settled In Clearwater, Florida in 1956. Mary joined Honeywell Avionics Division in Clearwater, Florida, in 1959 as one of its first Florida employees, retiring in 1980. Mary loved animals and had a special fondness for cats. She also loved books, modern history, and was passionate about informing our countries elected leaders of the lessons of history and their current follies. Mary is survived by husband of 66 years, Robert, daughter, Sharon, and her son Kelly and daughter-in-law, Lisa.
A celebration of her life will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home (693 S. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL. 33764) on December 1, 2018 between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to memorialize Mary’s life do so by donating to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation (5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL. 33760), the Humane Society of Pinellas (3040 SR 590, Clearwater, FL. 33759), or to the Friends of Strays (2911 47th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL. 33714).
