My amazing Dad. I miss you every single minute. Thank you for being such a wonderful father.
My dearest friend, Doug (I also called Douganada or Doughito), was the very best friend a person could have ever had.
He put up with me and everything! He was supportive, loving, funny, wise, playful, very positive, and grounded on the things that really matter!
He was kind of allergic to technology and the modern life… So he preserved his philosophy of simplicity and everything natural.
His favorite outfit: Jeans (preferably shorts) and a t-shirt (preferably gray).
It was very normal to see him outside receiving his vitamin D through the sun without his T-shirt on.
His beautiful Paradis and the Turrialba Volcano itself, have witnessed many years of a loving soul taking care of every little plant, bird, or even other species of the fauna at the luscious mountain where his property sits.
Our dear Doug will be remembered forever, with deep gratitude and love!!

I often refered to Douglas as a father figure to me here in Costa Rica; but my close friends and family know he was more of a guru to me. The Universe put him in my path at such an important time in my life that I found it impossible to deny that God has a plan for us and puts us in contact with the people we need to meet in order to complete our mission!
Douglas always gave such good advice; always coming from a place free of judgement. So much of his wisdom I've shared with others and it's always so helpful. His simplicity, his outlook on life with love and humor, his honesty and love for all living things....he really has been such an inspiration!
It's pretty hard to explain with words the emotions I feel after his passing....his spirit is still so strongly present! I can't really say it's sadness because I feel so blessed to have known him and honored to be considered his friend.
Sending strength and peace to Bridget and family; Douglas was an extraordinary man, touched so many lives and was a real example for humankind! The world is a better place because of Douglas, of this I am sure.
