Paul J.C. Hurtubise's Obituary
The angels called Paul J.C. Hurtubise, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Leominster, MA, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the age of 85.
He was born December 4, 1929, in Leominster, MA, and was the son of the late Paul A. and Irene (Bergeron) of Leominster, MA.
Paul was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, and a kind friend. He was immensely proud of his family and he enjoyed spending time with friends and family in Florida and New England. Paul’s interests were boundless. They included watching westerns on TV, solving sudoku puzzles, being a mentor and helping with the reading program at San Jose school in Dunedin, Florida. He was a life member for 62 years of the BPOE Elks Lodge #1525 in Dunedin, Florida and a life member of VFW Post 2550 Dunedin, Fl & the American Legion in Safety Harbor, Florida.
Educated in Leominster/Fitchburg schools, Paul was a graduate of St. Bernards High School class of 1947. He enlisted in the Navy in December 1948 and served during the Korean War as a 1st class Petty Officer Radarman. Mr. Hurtubise was stationed on the USS Maddox # DD731 honorably discharged in December 1952 and was the recipient of several medals. He furthered his education by graduating from Northeastern University as a polymer chemist. Paul began his career at Borden Chemical Company in Leominster, MA for 29 years before his early retirement in 1985 due to surgery and becoming a paraplegic.
On July 18, 1954, Paul married Beverly Munro at St. Leo’s Church in Leominster, MA. The couple made their home in Leominster for 50 years before moving to Dunedin, FL in 2003.
Paul’s close family, who hold him so dear and treasure his memory include his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Victoria-Lynn and John Beike of Hudson, NH; two granddaughters, Jennifer-Lynn Beike and her companion, Derek Jones of Manchester, NH; Kristin-Lynn and her husband Neil Campbell of Manchester NH; six great-grandchildren, Alyssah, Paris, Derek, Davis, Navayah and Jahneil; a brother-in-law, Sam Munro of Dunedin, FL; a sister-in-law, Barbara and her husband, Arthur Davis of Leominster, MA; and a sister Joyce Nelson of Milford, NH and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Beverly who passed on January 5, 2010.
Family and friends are warmly invited to honor and celebrate Paul's life by gathering on 11th of October at 2 pm at the VFW Post 2550 at 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 11:00 am at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, located at 1320 Main Street, Dunedin.
Also, A Memorial Mass will be held on October 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster MA. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery. A Condolence Book may be signed at www.mossfeasterdunedin.com. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's Memory to the Suncoast Hospice, located 2675 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34684.
A burial with Military Honors for both Paul and his wife Beverly will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA following the Memorial Mass.
Paul was a gift to his wife, children, family and many friends, and touched so many lives in his 80+ years. He will be missed dearly but it brings comfort to our hearts knowing he was finally reunited with the love of his life.
