Humor. That’s what drew me to Paul Mokwa. Back in the day, at Palm Harbor Junior High School, Paul had the best sense of humor and he was my best friend. From satires to well planned pranks, we spared no effort to elicit a laugh from each other. In the neighborhood we found out what was really going on out there from the older guys like Rick H, Kenny J, and others.
Paul was the tallest guy in the class and he made a striking figure as the drum major in the marching band. We all walked like Paul.
Later, Paul, Kenny and I rented a house near Lake Tarpon. Everything was great there, until one day we came home from work to find that the landlord had framed in the walls of his new business office in the middle of our living room.
These are ancient memories to be sure, but they speak to the present-day Paul I knew … engaging … helpful … interested to hear what’s on your mind … always there for you … and still funny. A mensch. I miss him.
