Granny Raeann used to take us to various restaurants to broaden our culinary horizons. I vividly recall a particular day when there was no handicap parking in front of an Italian restaurant. Determined to accommodate us, she decided to park across the street at a nearby banking location. However, the parking sign read “Employees Only,” and anyone else would be towed. Grandma Raeann casually remarked, “Oh well, who cares? No one will notice.” As we began to get out of the car, she leaned on the steering wheel for support. Suddenly, the horn went beep, beep, beep, for an eternity. Initially startled, we eventually burst into laughter. I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Grandma, you might as well have gone inside and declared, ‘Here I am! Come tow my car!’” I will cherish the memory of my beautiful granny, always caring and always making us laugh. There’s so many memories I could write down. But that one right there was always my favorite.
