Raeann M. Lusik's Obituary
Raeann Lusik 11/25/1942 - 09/20/2025
Raeann Lusik, most recently of Largo, FL passed away in her sleep well into her 83rd year resulting from her second battle with cancer. During her last month or two, Raeann greatly suffered but remembered her suffering was part of our Lord’s plan to share more profoundly in the life of Christ. Her Christian faith shone through many moments of joy as well as sorrow. As her only son would say… “Her Good Friday is gone. Now it’s her Easter Sunday.”
Raeann was a nurse by profession from 1963 until her retirement at the turn of the the 21st century. She graduated from Grasslands Hospital School of Nursing and subsequently worked for her home county of Westchester in New York State for many years in both the hospital and corrections systems, the latter of which also employed her late husband for many years.
She subsequently moved to Florida to be closer to her father, who retired to Daytona Beach after a long career in New York City. She turned her work life into more of a ministry than a simple career, working for what would become Redlands Christian Migrant Association. During that period of nearly 20 years, she dedicated her life to the care of migrant farm workers and their children, who often had no other resources for the simplest needs of their own lives.
She is survived by her only child, William, along with his wife Kay of Largo, FL. Raeann is further survived by her sisters-in-law Carol (Dave) Cooley and Dorothy Lusik, as well as many nieces, nephews, etc. from her late husband’s family plus her own. Beyond that, she is also survived by three generations’ worth of migrant families, who often called her “abuelita (granny) Raeann.” She also maintained a circle of many church friends/acquaintances.
In addition to her late parents, Raeann is also preceded in death by all three of her siblings: Jimmy, Thomas and Barbara. Her husband William also died 42 years ago, making Raeann a single mother at all too early an age. Her deep faith in the Lord and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary also gave her immeasurable purpose and strength. Final arrangements are entrusted to:

Religious service to be held in the funeral home on Saturday October 4th at 11:00am. Cremation and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, please offer contributions to:
