A toast to the gentleman who taught me how to enjoy a perfect vodka gimlet and the art of sautéing mushrooms. Except now I realize it was a pretense of taking a young man under his wing and sharing wisdom and guidance. There is no single memory of Ralph I can share, because my memory of Ralph reflects more on his kind heart and fatherly approach to our friendship.
