Roger O. Bouchard's Obituary
Bouchard, Roger Ovide, 88, passed away peacefully in his Palm Harbor home Sunday, October 19, 2014. Originally from Topsfield, Massachusetts, he moved to St. Petersburg at the age of 15, graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1944. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1948. After a brief career as a commercial fishing guide, he founded Roger Bouchard Insurance, Inc. in 1949. Soon after he married his wife, Jerry, and shared 59 years together. His passions were fishing, Florida Gator football, and woodturning. He shared his love of fishing with his family at their summer home on Little Gasparilla Island for over 45 years. Later he enjoyed summers with family and friends at their Ossippee Lake home in Freedom, NH. Roger was very proud of his family as well as the legacy he built at Bouchard Insurance. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and his ambition to always be the best at whatever he did. Roger is predeceased by his wife, Jerry. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Onufry, and his children, Roger (Sheila), Ralph (Wendy), Rick (Karen), Marie McClung (Kelly), Terry Bollenback (Ken), Tim (Angela), Ray (Niki), 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, October 25 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, 2405 Phillippe Parkway, Safety Harbor. Private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Clothes To Kids or the Florida Sherriff's Youth Ranch.
