Roger Gordon Grainger's Obituary
Roger Gordon Grainger, 78, of Clearwater passed away Monday July 13th, from a massive heart attack, in Largo FL. Roger leaves behind his sons Stephen and Thomas (Debra) as well as his daughter Jacquelyn. Also grandchildren Stephanie (Launy), Christopher, Rebecca, Joseph, And Elizabeth. As well as great-grandchildren Erik and Ethan. Other survivors include step-mother Myrtle Grainger, siblings Albert (Dorothy), Barbara, Patricia, and Steve (Frances). As well as many nieces and nephews. Roger was born on May 25 1937 in Chicago IL to Russell and Rita Grainger. He was raised blocks away from Wrigley Field. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. In august of 1954 he joined the US Army and was extremely proud of his service in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. While serving his country he met the love of his life, Mary (Wade) and they wed on October 27th 1957. Roger was a lithographer and was described by a former employer as a pioneer in his field. After "retirement" he worked as a delivery driver, security guard, and crossing guard. He was at one time an avid bowler. He loved old westerns and playing cards w/his family. He loved spending time w/the family. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and son Roger Jr. As well as his father, Russell, mother, Rita, and step-father Cliff Lamey. Also siblings Joann, Bob, Daniel, Everett Sr., Don, Rita, and Dolores.
