Sara Mcclendon
Mr. Ron was more than my childhood best friend’s dad, he was family to me growing up.
Some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones. He would always ask April and me what kind of candy we wanted and made sure we got it every time. He’d check on us constantly while we played outside or inside and we definitely weren’t calmly playing house, we were running around like banshees most of the time but he always kept a quiet eye on us and made sure we were safe.
He was the best pool player I ever met and patiently taught April and me how to play. He was a quiet man, but he didn’t have to say much you could feel his kindness in the way he showed up and cared for everyone.
He never missed a Buccaneers game, and his love for his family was even stronger than his love for football. He loved his daughter April and his wife Loie immensely, and it showed in everything he did. I’ll always cherish the time April and I even got to work with him it meant a lot to see him in his world.
Now he’s in heaven with Rocky, the dog who adored him just as much as we did.
I wish I could have said goodbye, Mr. Ron. You were a huge part of my childhood and positively inspired my adult life. You were truly a good man and will be deeply missed, and I’ll always carry those memories with me.
My heartfelt condolences to the Marit family.
