Scott Robert Shaffer's Obituary
Scott Robert Shaffer, 61, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away on June 10th, 2017 surrounded by his family after a brief but difficult fight with lung cancer.
Scott was born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1955, the first of six children. Following his junior year at West Lafayette High School, he moved with his family to Florida where he graduated from Dunedin High School in 1973, then continued on to Mississippi State University, where he earned a degree in business management. As a young man, he served two separate tours in the U.S. Navy, travelling the world on an aircraft carrier, finishing his second tour as a First Class Petty Officer.
With skills he learned in the service, Scott built a career in computers, most recently as chief operating officer of PCI Software, where he worked for the past twelve years. He was well respected in both his Navy and civilian careers, earning not only many accolades, but also the devotion and friendship of his coworkers.
Scott was a loyal family man who loved spending time with his parents, siblings, daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his parents, Don and Donna Shaffer,
his five daughters, Shannon Gilfillan, Erica Whiteman, Marianne Shaffer, Sarah Shaffer and Jess Lawlor, brothers Mark Shaffer, Kevin Shaffer, Mitch Shaffer, and Andy Shaffer, and sister Susan Kawalec.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at Moss Feaster in Dunedin, Florida on Friday, June 16th from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
