Steven A. DiMicco's Obituary
Steven Albert DiMicco, 70, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away at his home on Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born in New York, NY on December 17, 1953, to parents Florence and Anthony DiMicco.
He was married to the love of his life, Debbie E. Waterson on July 29, 1979, in Lindenhurst, NY. They were together for 44 wonderful years, and they raised two children together.
Steve’s devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. One of Debbie’s earliest and most memorable moments with Steve is when he literally saved her – during a water-skiing adventure – she’d jumped into the water thinking he needed saving, only to end up needing rescuing, herself, by him! Steve was the steady support for his family, reminders of his love are everywhere throughout his home and those of his sons. He knew what he wanted from life and spent every day living the life that he wanted. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hanging out with his cats, Tiki and Bucco, and feeding squirrels at Marshall Street Park during lunch.
Steve worked as a machinist for over 45 years, with an unwavering passion for precision and craftmanship. Debbie notes his 18 years at Advanced Tool as the happiest time of his career, during which he spent this last year working alongside his son, Mike, who says he, “will always cherish the opportunity to have learned how to be a machinist from his father, working by his side every day”. His son Anthony recalled how his father’s passion for precision continues to influence his own, when, early on in life his dad made him redo any schoolwork not done neatly enough, teaching him that, “it will take a lot less time to do it right than to have to redo it”.
He is survived by his Wife, Debbie E. DiMicco, two sons, Anthony Joseph DiMicco and Michael Kenneth DiMicco, daughter-in-law, Vanessa Lea DiMicco, sister-in-law, Jane Ward, and her husband Jack Ward, and his two grandchildren, Sienna Elizabeth DiMicco and Chase Anthony DiMicco along with all the DiMicco cats.
