Terry Lee Sorensen's Obituary
Born to the late Shirley Sorensen (Phelps) and Leonard Sorensen in Omaha, Nebraska on January 8, 1947, Terry entered the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2020. Terry grew up with a passion for swimming and diving. He competed in track in high school and upon graduation enlisted in the Navy in 1965 and served proudly for more than 20 years. He was a decorated Viet Nam veteran who continued to serve after the war, finally retiring in September, 1985. He was always proud of his service and the country he served.
Terry’s passions later in life were golf and fishing. He was part of an active foursome from MacDill Air Force Base for a number of years before his passing. He will always be remembered for his kindness, tender heart and his ability to see the good in people and circumstances. He was a loving and protective husband who will be greatly missed.
Terry is survived by his wife of nine years, Laurie (Lathrop) Sorensen.
Terry will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL with honors, on a date to be determined.
