Vicky Ann Shackelton's Obituary
It was a long anticipated, tender dance when Vicky Ann Sutch Shackelton, age 64, was greeted by her loving husband when she returned to her Heavenly home on November 7, 2019.
Vicky was born August 1, 1955 in Painesville, Ohio to Barbara Ann Mosier Sutch and Robert Frank Sutch. The 3rd of 6 children, Vicky grew up in a large family. She loved reading and exploring the wooded acres around their home. Vicky lived in Wyoming for several years as a young adult and then moved with her young family to Alaska in 1977. There Vicky had many adventures including living in a log cabin with no running water, welcoming 3 more children to the family, and returning to school to become a nurse. Professionally, Vicky worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 15 years. She loved her work and was well respected and appreciated by her coworkers and patients.
Learning was the foundation of Vicky’s life. Her most treasured childhood memories were reading and discussing American and world histories with her Dad who was a history teacher. Her love of learning extended to the challenge of nursing school. After graduation she continued to expand her mind with supplemental education classes. Her most profound education was religious study and she became an influential gospel studies teacher in every location that she lived.
In 1996 Vicky returned to Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Thomas Shackelton Jr. They blended their families of five adult children and 3 teenagers and began a beautiful life together. They loved to travel and visited many historical and religious sites. Together they blessed the lives of numerous friends through loving service and gospel learning which became the hallmark of their lives.
Vicky leaves behind a legacy of faith and perseverance. The last 10 years of her life, Vicky endured many intense health challenges. With grace she continued to learn and love as all other activities and mobility
were taken from her. Her unshakeable faith in God has sustained her and inspired all who knew her.
She leaves behind a large family including her 5 children Tanya (Russ, Charles, Ryan and Kristopher) Ginger, Larissa (Doug, Thomas, Emily, and Katy) Ruffell, Eric (Ayumi) Eddins, Barbara (Shaun, Elek, Keenan, Camden, Ilona, Ismayla, Lilliona, Lovisa) Haney, and Hal (Phoenix and Austin) Eddins, Stepdaughter Stacy (Joe, Ethan, Abby, Drew) Farrenholz, and siblings: Kathy, Rebecca, Scott, Deborah, and Susan.
She is predeceased in death by her husband Chuck, and parents.
Interment will be at Bushnell National Cemetery.
