Wayne D. Gable's Obituary
Wayne Douglas Gable, 80, of Palm Harbor, Florida died January 3, 2021 following a brave battle against cancer. Wayne was born July 14, 1940 in Seneca Falls, N.Y., the son of Irving J. and Elma S. Demont Gable. He was a 1958 graduate of Romulus High School.
Wayne spent many years farming and he was also a head cook at Willard State Psychiatric Center. He moved to the Clearwater, Florida area in 1981, where he rehabilitated properties and rented homes until his retirement in 2001. Wayne shared his talent for woodworking through his volunteer work at ToyMakers of East Lake in Palm Harbor where he crafted wooden toy penguins, trucks, and airplanes for children receiving rehabilitative care at Tampa General Hospital. He also volunteered as a greeter at the patient information desk at Mease Hospital and as a theatre escort at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
Wayne was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Doran Gable in 2011. He. is survived by his partner of six years, Caroline Smith; daughter, Lori A. Gable of Fairport, New York; son Steven W. (Elaine) Gable, of Stuart, Florida: daughter Lisa L. Gable (Michael) Ridgley of Oldsmar, Florida; grandsons Brandan Lewis, Mitchell Gable, and Theo Storrs; granddaughters Grace Gable and Payton Ridgley; great-grandson Silas Gable; brothers Dallis C. (Marion) Gable of Romulus, and Walter J. Gable of Seneca Falls; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers George I. Gable and Bruce M. Gable.
