Dad the impact you had on our lives is greater than we could put into words. You helped to guide us through an ocean roaring with waves of disarray to a glass sea of order, without directly taking the wheel from us. You never let anything stop you, every time the going got tough you got tougher. You wielded an iron fist in a velvet glove, the Cambridge Dictionary defines this as “used to describe someone who seems to be gentle but is in fact forceful and determined”. For you, the “iron fist” was a strong man with a truly outstanding work ethic, determined to provide for and protect his family, and knew when he needed to take action to stand up for himself and others, the “velvet glove” was a man that cares for his family and friends thereof, a gentle man that loved to laugh, a generous man that gave his time for others and treated people with kindness. You loved to have fun and never hindered our imagination while managing to also keep us grounded to reality. You had an unwavering dedication to Mom and set a superb example of how to treat women for us and many others. You turned the tides of future generations through the love and care you gave us. You left your mark on a plethora of individuals through your countless hours of volunteering. We will forever miss you, the time we had with you will always be cherished, and we will never forget the love, care, and dedication you had for our family.
A funeral for William will be held on Saturday, December 9, at 1pm in the Episcopal Church of The Ascension, 701 Orange Ave, Clearwater, FL., followed by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in William’s memory to the Saving Grace Women’s Home www.savinggracewh.com
